Best Xbox 360 Bundle Deals: Buyers' Guide

Last updated 28th May 2010

In this guide, we've listed the best Xbox 360 bundles for all three Xbox 360 consoles.

For research, we've compared all the Xbox 360 deals from Amazon, Argos, ASDA, CD WOW!, Comet, Currys, dabs.com, GAME, Gameplay, Gamestation, HMV, John Lewis, LOVEFiLM, Play.com, Sainsbury's, Tesco, and Very.

Before we start, are you unsure of the differences between the four versions of the Xbox 360 console (the Arcade, Premium, Elite, and Super Elite)? If so, read our full article of the differences between the Xbox 360 Arcade, Premium, Elite, and Super Elite.

We base this guide on what bundles offer the best value, the most savings, and the best games.

Xbox 360 Elite Console (120GB)

Amazon currently has the best deal on the Xbox 360 Elite. Like many of Amazon's offers, you can customise it to get the games and accessories you want:

* Amazon: Xbox 360 Elite (120GB) + HDMI Cable + Halo 3 + Wireless Entertainment Pack (includes two games and an extra controller): £199.98

You'll need to make two choices to get the above special offer. The first choice is to decide between Halo 3 and Lost Odyssey. We highly recommend Halo 3, but your own taste may vary.

The second choice allows you to add another "game" for £10 extra. Amazon offers an excellent selection of games to choose between (Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed II, Mass Effect 2, Bad Company 2, and Street Fighter IV are all superb). However, you can also choose the Xbox 360 Wireless Entertainment Pack as the extra item.

The Wireless Entertainment Pack comes with two games and an extra wireless controller. While the two games included are only average quality, getting them and a controller for only £10 is a superb bargain. This makes choosing between the Entertainment Pack and one of the other excellent games quite a tough decision.

As with all Amazon bundles, the discounts they offer will only be shown at the last stage of the checkout process.

The above deal from Amazon is better than any of the other Xbox 360 Elite bundles currently on the market. Argos has a number of deals which may be better in the future, but Argos currently has little to no stock of the Xbox 360 Elite.

Xbox 360 Super Elite Console (250GB)

For those willing to spend a little more, there are some excellent Xbox 360 Super Elite bundles available at the moment. The two best deals come from Amazon and Play.com:

* Amazon: Xbox 360 Super Elite (250GB) + Final Fantasy XIII + an extra controller + HDMI Cable + Halo 3 + Wireless Entertainment Pack (includes two games and another extra controller): £219.99

* Play.com: Xbox 360 Super Elite (250GB) + Final Fantasy XIII + an extra controller + Forza Motorsport 3 + Fable II + Gears of War 2 + Halo 3: ODST: £239.99

While the Amazon deal represents better value for money, the Play.com deal includes some of the best games available for the Xbox 360. Either is an excellent choice.

In regards to the Amazon deal, it is possible to choose options other than Halo 3 and the Wireless Entertainment Pack; be sure to check out the Amazon Xbox 360 Super Elite special offers page for full details. As with all Amazon bundles, the discounts they offer will only be shown at the last stage of the checkout process.

Xbox 360 Arcade Console (0.5GB)

Argos currently has the best selection of deals for the Xbox 360 Arcade. In addition, Argos is also offering a free £10 voucher for all orders over £100 until 1st June. The two combined mean Argos comes in cheaper, and with a better selection of bundles, than any other retailer:

* Argos: Xbox 360 Arcade + Pure + Lego Batman + an extra controller: £129.99 (Special Offer 4)

This bundle represents excellent value for money, and is the only cheap bundle to include an extra controller. While the two included games are only average in quality, it's easy to pick up other cheap, high-quality games at a later stage.

* Argos: Xbox 360 Arcade + Argos Accessory Pack + an extra game: £129.99 to £134.99 (Special Offer 3)

For those who don't need the extra controller, this bundle offers a choice between a wide range of high-quality titles. A good choice for those after a particular game.

* Argos: Xbox 360 Arcade + Forza 2 + Halo Wars + Halo 3 + Fable II + Gears of War 2 + Project Gotham Racing 4: £169.93 (Special Offer 6)

This bundle includes four top-quality games, and is a good choice for those with a little more to spend. However, an extra £30 will get you a good Xbox 360 Elite bundle. Given we highly recommend getting an Xbox 360 with a hard disk, consider carefully whether it would be worth spending a little more on the Xbox 360 Elite. It may end up saving you money in the long-term!
